Weymouth Awards Emergency Medical Services Contract to Fallon Ambulance
Fallon Ambulance Service, a three-generation, family-operated ambulance service with headquarters in Milton, has been awarded a three-year contract to provide municipal and ambulance services for the town of Weymouth.
The 65-year old company recently won the three-year contract and will be responsible for all emergency medical responses for Weymouth, providing 24-hour Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedic service beginning October 16, 2001. For the past 12 years, Weymouth had contracted emergency medical services with the nationwide company, American Medical Response, AMR, the largest ambulance service in the state.
Under the new contract Fallon Ambulance Service will be responsible for all emergency medical responses for Weymouth. The firm will work closely with both the Weymouth Police and Fire Departments.
Weymouth is a community of 53,000 residents and Peter Racicot, Senior Vice President of Business Development for Fallon Ambulance Service, estimates that service to Weymouth requires 3,000 to 3,500 transports per year for municipal emergency medical responses. Under the provisions of the agreement, Fallon Ambulance Service will receive medical direction from and work with the South Shore Hospital, as well as the Weymouth Fire and Police Departments. Two Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances will be garaged 24-hours per day - one at the company's 55 Woodrock Road location - and a second at a North Weymouth location and additional ambulances are also dispatched as required.
"We are very pleased to have this opportunity to work with the residents of Weymouth," said Racicot. "As a family-owned business we have fought hard to remain independent and provide service to the South Shore. This new contract positions Fallon Ambulance as the major presence on the South Shore. We currently provide services to Braintree, Milton, Quincy, Brookline and Dedham and we enjoy strong relationships with those communities as well as a great working relationship with South Shore Hospital."
Racicot added, "We understand the responsibility of providing superior care and immediate response time. We will work hard to be worthy of the confidence and trust that the town of Weymouth has placed in us."
Fallon Ambulance Service provides a number of community programs to benefit residents of the municipalities where they provide 911 coverage. The company participates in a number of outreach programs, including partnerships with schools; cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training for police and fire departments; ambulance tours, instruction in emergency medical care such as the use of defibrillators; and participation in health fairs.
