Fallon Ambulance offers EMT Scholarships to High School Seniors

For high school seniors who aspire to a career in the field of medicine, and would enjoy a chance to work as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) while going through college, Fallon Ambulance Service and the Quincy Schools have the perfect opportunity.

Fallon Ambulance Service, a third generation family owned business that provides the 9-1-1 municipal service to the City of Quincy, is offering six EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) scholarships to high school students, valued at $500 each, that will provide them with training to become an EMT.

Training is done at the Fallon Ambulance Service facility; and the scholarship program is being coordinated through the Quincy High School Health & Human Services Program, which is designed to help students develop the knowledge, competence, and aptitudes necessary for a career in the health care delivery system.

According to Peter Racicot, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Fallon Ambulance, the program carries with it the opportunity for successful candidates to become EMTs; as a part of program, Fallon provides employment to candidates who successfully complete training.

"We are looking for scholarship candidates who are truly motivated and want to pursue a career in the medical field" said Peter Racicot, Senior Vice President of Business Development for Fallon Ambulance Service. He added, "Serving as an EMT is an excellent way to learn the medical field; some choose to remain with it as a lifetime career, while others use the opportunity to gain knowledge and later pursue a career as a nurse, doctor or explore other opportunities that the fast-growing field of medicine offers." Racicot began his career with Fallon as an EMT.

Students interested in applying for the scholarship are asked to submit three letters of recommendation, a letter of aspiration (explaining why the student would like to pursue this field), and a resume. Information should be forwarded to the the Career Center, Quincy High School, 52 Coddington St., Quincy, MA 02169 before May 7.
